LRRB Impact
- Supports Minnesota Road Research Project (Mn/ROAD), an innovative testing facility for pavement research
- Conducted more than 500 research project since its starts, with the results of many projects, such as recycled asphalt in mix, now used routinely
- Funded research and assisted in implementation of new spring load restriction guidelines, which are estimated to save $14 million annually in road repair costs
- Funds the Operational Research Program (OPERA) that supports research at city and county public works sites
- Supports technology transfer through coordination and funding of education, training, and library services
Success Stories
The LRRB has sponsored a number of successful research projects. The following Technical Summary highlights one success.
2005-49TS: Impact of Alternative Storm Water Management Approaches on Highway Infrastructure.
Investigators conducted a survey and performed inspections to evaluate the performance of various storm water Best Management Practices and whether they negatively impact adjacent roadways. No negative infrastructure effects were discovered.
