For more than 50 years, the Local Road Research Board (LRRB) has brought important developments to transportation engineers throughout Minnesota. Those developments range from new ways to determine pavement strength to innovative methods for engaging the public. Today, the LRRB remains true to its important mission: supporting and sharing the latest transportation research applications with the state’s city and county engineers.

New LRRB At-A-Glance Report

Every year the Local Road Research Board publishes a summary of completed reports and active projects, and describes the LRRB’s goals and resources. The LRRB At-a-Glance Report for FY2013 is now available. It marks 55 years of collaboration among Minnesota’s city and county transportation agencies to support research that improves our transportation infrastructure, enhances highway safety and integrates the local road system into communities.

Choosing Stormwater Management Practices: A Decision Tree for Minnesota Cities and Counties

This new video introduces seven management practices that local government agencies may use to meet state and federal stormwater regulations. Based on a Local Road Research Board guide to stormwater best management practices, the video shows examples of various BMPs as local engineers explain how they have used them to keep stormwater pollutants out of Minnesota lakes and streams.
